Exchange Students Add International Flair To Choirs

Ochanya is a junior at Williamsburg High School and her host parents are Pastor Donald and Gloria Dovore. She is active in choir and FCCLA. It was her desire to experience life outside her native continent of Africa, and to make new friends, that compelled Ochanya to become an exchange student.
Ochanya is active in choir and school clubs in her homeland, too. She noted that the boarding school she attends in Nigeria is an all-girl school.
The choir at Ochanya's school was pretty competitive, she said. "It was an all-female choir and competed against other secondary schools, and we performed at state functions," she noted. "We were very good and we won most of the time." An all-male choir provided some tough competition, Ochanya said.
Ochanya would like to return to the United States to attend college. She hopes to become a pediatric doctor.
